Our Engagement

On September 1, 2020, Rob brought me to one of his favorite places on Earth, Martha’s Vineyard. Even though I am a New Englander, I had never been over to the Island before. We took our car on the Ferry and spent the entire day going to different spots that were important to him growing up. When we got to the top of Menemsha Hills, Rob proposed to me overlooking the Atlantic Ocean!! It was a total surprise, I didn’t see it coming. I had no makeup on and my nails DEFINITELY weren’t cute. We celebrated the proposal that night with a lobster bake from the beach and watched the sunset.

Our Engagement on Martha’s Vineyard

Our Wedding and Saranac Lake

Flash forward to August 7, 2021. Rob and I got married up in NH in front of our closest family and friends at a barn in Newington. It was a magical day! And then just three months after we got married we took a trip on Cape Air to Saranac Lake, NY. We didn’t know it then, but we found out right before Thanksgiving, that we had made a baby on that trip!! Check out where we stayed and all of the photos from that trip! https://www.aylabrown.com/need-a-quick-weekend-getaway-try-flying-cape-air-from-boston-to-saranac-lake/

In March of 2022 Rob and I learned that we were expecting a baby boy. (We are so excited about it!!) His due date is August 2nd, but if you’re a parent, you know that whenever your little one decides to come out, they’ll come out. So he could be deliver on or around his due date, or he could come early. We are patiently waiting for his arrival. Check out his first ultrasound image below with Bellybaloo!

Baby Moon to Martha’s Vineyard on Cape Air

I had never heard of a “Baby Moon” before getting pregnant, but all of my friends asked, “Where are you taking your Baby Moon?” I quickly learned that the “Baby Moon” is the last special trip that you and your partner take before your baby is brought into the world. So of COURSE we went to where it all began… Martha’s Vineyard with Cape Air! On May 20, 2022, We packed our bags, brought our furst baby, Brate, and flew from Boston Logan Airport to Martha’s Vineyard. It was a quick 30 minute flight and from your seat you can see all of the South Shore and Cape Cod! It’s a stunning ride, not bumpy at all, and on a clear day you can see all the way out to the arm of Provincetown.

Edgartown – Hob Knob Luxury Boutique Hotel

We arrived on Martha’s Vineyard and got a ride to downtown Edgartown where our bed and Breakfast was. We stayed at the Hob Knob Luxury Boutique Hotel in Edgartown and the moment we turned into the parking lot we knew we were going to have the most relaxing Baby Moon. We entered Hob Knob and were immediately greeted by people who were not only excited to see us, but even more excited to see our dog, Brate! (He’s kind of a celebrity wherever we go because he’s so fluffy and cute). Hob Knob is dog friendly, and you can’t find many places these days that are! They even have an entire webpage on their website dedicated to dog and all of the local activities you can do with your pet.

We walked upstairs to our room and it was just the cutest thing ever! The hotel knew we were celebrating our Baby Moon and had the bed made up with an adorable towel animal, a very sweet note, and even a dog cookie for Brate. Talk about hospitality!! I loved waking up every morning to a full breakfast downstairs. All of the food was homemade and beautifully delivered by the hotel staff to any seat you wanted to eat at in the hotel. We loved eating and drinking our coffee outside. One day we even rented bikes from the hotel and rode them all around Edgartown, and even all the way to the Jaws Bridge! (I hope you’ve seen the movie or this will be a terrible reference!)

Things To Do In Martha’s Vineyard While On Your Baby Moon

  1. Go on a food/drinking tour! While I couldn’t drink alcohol, my husband sure did and really enjoyed his martinis at different restaurants. And while he drank, I ate! It was fun to pop into different restaurants downtown and explore the menus. Hint: They’re all amazing.

2. Historical Walking Tour at The Carnegie! This dog-friendly tour was very cool. It lasted about an hour and we learned all about the history of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard and all of the gossip around town. We were brought to the oldest building on the Island, multiple historical sites, and even got a glimpse inside one of the oldest and most beautiful churches on Martha’s Vineyard! 3. Prenatal Yoga Class! I took a prenatal yoga class at Yoga On the Vine on the last morning we were there. It really made me realize that I should have been doing yoga the entire pregnancy! It was so nice to stretch the body out and learn about proper breathing. And if you can believe it, the tightest part of my body were my TOES! I guess I’ve been putting too much stress and *extra* weight on my feet. Makes sense, since I’m carrying a baby and a *little* extra weight. HA!

4. Ride Bikes Around Town! Mama’s, don’t put TOO much stress on your body, but if you can handle it, rent some bikes from the hotel, or one of the bicycle rental shops and rip around town. The Vineyard homes are so stunning and it’s worth the exploration.
