If you gave me a magic wand I would wave it around and make this pandemic go away. If you gave me a magic lamp with a genie I’d use every wish to make sure that our loved ones didn’t die. If I had a….

I’ve realized that it’s easy to get bogged down when you’re not allowed to leave your house, or give your mom a hug, or visit your grandparent in the nursing home. These are truly unexpected and unprecedented times that our world is facing ever since COVID-19 showed up and threw a curve ball in 2020. But during this time of panic and stress, I’ve found ways to actually feel grateful and calm and I would love to share those with you in case you might be feeling the opposite. But no matter what, know that the sun is shining and we will make it through another day!

Go for a walk in nature.

There’s a great app called “AllTrails: Hike, Bike & Run,” where you can find trails all around you. It’s the ONLY app I’ve ever seen with a solid 5-star rating. It provides pictures of the trails, difficulty level, the length of the trail and so much more.

Write a song or poem.

While I’ve only completed one full song during this time, I’ve actually started about 6 of them. Even though I haven’t completely finished the songs It feels really great to get ideas down on paper. I’ve also been writing and recording songs for sick children for a non-profit called Songs of Love.

Channel your inner lumber Jack.

This was FUN. It hurt a lot but taking an axe and chopping wood was very theraputic. I just thought of all of the crap going on in the world, all of the men who broke my heart, and I did that little pile, all by myself!! (until Rob stepped in and literally did it all because he’s much stronger than me).

Home Projects.

This is my favorite part of being stuck at home. My boyfriend and I have re-seeded our lawn, aerated it, thatched it…the whole nine yards. We are so excited to see what it looks like in 30 days. Right now we can see some seeds poking through the dirt and it’s so thrilling. Every day we go outside and see if it’s grown any more. I also planted some sunflowers outside so hopefully those will sprout up in the next month as well. I love sunflowers! We love checking out the trends on Wayfair.com and these are the things people are interested in the most. I totally get it. I don’t picture Rob and I jumping on a trampoline anytime soon, but you might have a kid at home that needs to let some energy out!! Check out the items here:

A Romantic Dinner

I hate to say it, but one fancy meal cooked by the person you love goes a LONG way. It shows that you still care about them, even when they’ve gained the quarantine 15, they’re still in sweatpants, and haven’t left the house. Rob made this dinner for me and he wouldn’t let me come into the kitchen the entire night because he wanted it to be a surprise. It was incredible and it really lifted my spirits!
