College Park, MD - The Boston College women's basketball team fell to Maryland, 72-65, at the Comcast Center.

The Eagles are now 10-7 on the season, while Maryland improved to 14-3.

The Eagles will host Georgia Tech on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at Conte Forum.

Maryland had four players in double-figures led by freshman Diandra Tchatchouang with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Tianna Hawkins notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Boston College was led by Mickel Picco with 17 points, while Brittanny Johnson had 12 points and Jaclyn Thoman added 10 points.

BC opened the second half with a 4-0 run as Thoman hit the first two shots. Maryland responded with nine straight points to go up 49-44, at 15:44 in the half.

A traditional three-point play by Picco at 10:47 cut the lead, 55-51. Maryland followed with a 10 point run and held a 62-52 lead, the largest of the game.

With just under five minutes to play, Picco missed two shots and the lead remained 10 points for Maryland. A layup by Shields cut the lead to eight but that is the closest BC would get. Tchatchaouang hit a layup to keep the Terps up by 10. A three-pointer by Thoman cut the lead to nine points with 2:53 to play but could not stop the Terps. Maryland hit three foul shots in the final minute to close out the game.

Maryland shot a sizzling 63 percent. Lori Bjork led the Terps with nine points, while Hawkins and Tchatchouang each notched eight points.

The lead changed 10 times and was tied six times in the half. The two teams battled back and forth until the final minute when Barrett drove to the hoop for an uncontested layup giving the Terps a 40-36 lead. Two free throws by Picco with two seconds cut the Maryland halftime lead to two points, 40-38.

Game Notes: Mickel Picco became the all-time leader in three-pointers when she hit her second long ball at 10:06 in the first half. Picco passed Cal Bouchard '00 who finished her career with 211.
