So today is the 5 year anniversary of Forward! It definitely does not seem like it has been five years; so much has happened since then.
Here's something I wrote to post on facebook about it:
Five years ago today on October 17, 2006, my friend Ayla Brown released her debut CD, Forward.
Eighteen years old at the time, she was starting her freshman year at Boston College. While there she played four years of Division 1 basketball for the Eagles before graduating a Communications major in 2010. In 2008 she joined Waltham’s Reagle Players in their production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” starring as the narrator. Fall 2009 she released Ayla Brown Live! a seven track album of songs she performed with James Montgomery and the Uptown Horns. A few months later in January 2010, she released Circles, a five track EP. Later that year she became a correspondent for the CBS Early Show and also toured overseas in Afghanistan with Armed Forces Entertainment. She also announced a decision to switch music genres; “country found her.”
Most recently, Ayla has made the transition from pop singer to country singer complete by moving to Nashville and writing songs with her own original country sound. Currently her single, “Goodbye for Good,” is available on cdbaby.com (
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/aylabrown2) and has topped the site’s country charts.
All in all, five years from where this began, I am so glad to have experienced a part of this amazing musical journey and am excited to see where it will head next.
