Although the official anniversary isn\'t until Sunday (March 9), tonight\'s episode is the two-year anniversary of Ayla\'s elimination back in season 5. I still remember being worried all day because of Dial Idol\'s results, but I felt calm knowing she was going. It still is sad to think back on from time to time, but things have turned out how they were supposed to anyway. Does everyone else remember it like it was yesterday?

yup. Still the only time I have cried on idol. Boy, I was maaaadddd!
But things have turned out really well. How many OTHER semifinalists have had the success Ayla has had?

Two years ago today

Yeah, I can\'t think of any other semifinalists that have had the kind of success Ayla has had. The thing that sets Ayla apart from everyone else is the fact that she\'s really well-rounded in her talents (basketball, singing, now acting haha).

i was actually just thinking about this thursday when i was watching the top 12 get picked. i just remember it was a day after my birthday which wasn't a nice birthday present. i remember crying right along with her and being so mad at melissa [haha]. but just to see how far she's come over 2 years is amazing. she seems to have succeeded in everything she's tried since then.

Urgh... it was a sad evening. I wasn't impress with the voting.

but things certainly happen for a reason and Ayla would never have had the flexibitily that she has now to pursue her dream of a basketball career had she won American Idol or even going further on AI, would have interefereed with her college career which in the long run is so much more important than winning an inane reality show competition. all its good for is opening doors and her doors have been opened, its just a matter of chooosing the right ones.
Way to go Ayla!
