There was a lot of hay made over this post on Facebook yesterday, and the gals at The Track on BostonHerald.com took notice:

Ayla Brown, whose dad, U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, mortified her and her sis when he announced during his election-night acceptance speech last year that both gals were “available,” caused a Facebook frenzy yesterday when the BC grad announced she was “engaged.”
The former “American Idol” wannabe turned Nashville country singer posted “I’m engaged!” shortly before 6 a.m. yesterday, setting off a tsunami of congrats from her many, many social network friends, including one from a cousin who helpfully divulged that the lucky guy was Josh Lackey, a Marine sergeant Ayla met last year during a trip to Afghanistan to entertain the troops.
But after the Track demanded the deets, Ayla updated her wall, telling us, and friends that she was only Josh-ing!
“I’m not really engaged,” Ayla told the Track. “I’m currently not in a relationship. As you can see on my Facebook wall right now. A lot of people in this world assume the word engaged means ‘ready to marry’ but there are many other definitions of the word!”
And what would that be, you ask ... Well, according to Ayla, “the second definition of the word engaged (according to the Webster’s Dictionary) is ‘committed, as to a cause.’ ”
“No, I am not getting married, but I do have a worthy cause I would like everyone’s help with!” she wrote. “My next ‘engagement’ is coming up on November 10th in Washington DC. It’s called the ‘American Heroes Ball’ to benefit the Wounded Warrior Pro-ject.” (Go to american heroesball.eventbrite .com for the deets.)
According to Ayla, she and Josh are no longer together. Guess that means, she’s available!
