BC Exhibition Game Box Score

Chestnut Hill, MA - Sophomore Carolyn Swords had 18 points and six rebounds, while teammate Stefanie Murphy registered a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) as Boston College defeated the Premier Players, 78-48, in an exhibition game in Conte Forum.

Senior guard Corey Rusin added 11 points and four rebounds, while junior Ayla Brown notched 10 points in the win.

The Eagles took some time to warm up as they were down quickly 8-4. BC needed a spark off the bench as Brown came in and scored seven points to chip away at the Premier Player lead. At the 9:16 mark, Brown hit a three-pointer which cut the lead to two points, 14-12. Boston College took over when sophomore Jaclyn Thoman hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 21-21 with four minutes to play. That sparked a 12-2 run to end the half and give BC a 31-23 lead. In that run, Swords hit three straight buckets.

Boston College pulled away early in the second half as the Eagles came out ready to fly. Rusin would stick a three from the top of the key to spark a 21-4 run. Rusin would score five points, while Swords added seven in the run.

The Eagles shot 58 percent from the field in the second half and 49.2 percent for the game. Boston College also had 13 steals, while it turned the ball over 23 times.

Game Notes:
Senior captain Corey Rusin earned her first start since her sophomore season. She finished with 19 minutes played, 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal ... Sophomore Lauren Whitehurst saw her first action since December of 2007. Whitehurst, who missed most of last season with a back injury, played 11 minutes and had two blocks ... Junior Mickel Picco had nine points, five assists and four rebounds ... Freshman Jasmine Gill saw her collegiate action and had two rebounds and two points ... Boston College will open up the 2008-09 season on Friday, November 14 at 8:15 p.m. when the Eagles host St. Francis (PA).

Awesome, glad to see them off to a great start. Too bad these stats don't count for the regular season, but they're still a good indicator for what's to come.
