BOSTON HERALD ASKS AYLA TO RECALL HER TIME AUDITIONING FOR IDOL
JUNE 03
Ayla was quoted in a piece written by Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa that appeared in today's edition of The Boston Herald. In the article, Ayla spoke of her experience auditioning for the fifth season of Idol at Gillette Stadium back in 2005. Read an excerpt from the article below:
"Once you finally get to where you sing for the first time, you are in groups of four and there are about 15 tents set up inside the stadium," Brown recalled. "They herd you inside and you sing in front of a producer, about 10 or 15 seconds of a song, then you step back. When everyone has sung, they say, 'You, you, you, you're gone.' I was the only one in my group of four who made it through."
Two days later, Brown was summoned to the Seaport Hotel, where she performed for "AI's" executive producers.
"I did two songs and they gave me good feedback," she said. "One of the songs was 'Get Here' by Oleta Adams, and they told me, 'Simon hates that song, I wouldn't sing it.'"
Ayla also mentioned how she had to wait in line for nine hours to get a wristband on the first day and 10 hours the next day in the pouring rain.
